Get in the game

It's time to "Get in the Game" for Summer Reading! Gaming comes in many different forms.

Library Games

Low cost, fun teen challenges. Be careful with those book carts!
Book Cart Relays -

Race through the library with empty book carts and see who is the fastest.

Speed Shelving -
The Dewey Decimal System isn't messing around. Have teens put books in order while being timed.

Library Scavenger Hunt -
These are especially fun. Take pictures around your library with odd angles or uncommon features. Another way you can play is to hide clues leading teens to their final location.

Book Stacking -
Those books can be trouble. Have your teens see how high they can stack them.

Opening Games Party

A great way to celebrate the start of the Olympics or the start of your Summer Reading Program.
Snacks

“Go for Gold” treat bags -
Filled with all sorts of goodies. Choose your own favorite gold treats or wrap other things in gold paper.

Popcorn Torches -
Popcorn in construction paper cones make a festive Opening Ceremonies edible decoration. Use cinnamon or cheese to add a touch of fiery flair.
Decorations
Ring Chain -
Use colorful paper of even book pages to make a collaborative library art project for the summer.

World Flag Display -
Engage your patrons with a display of flags from around the world. This can become a self directed program as well with trivia or matching games.

Games
Ring Toss -
Simple and fun for the entire family.

Design a Mascot -
This would be an amazing way to get your patrons to interact. Create your own mascot using all types of materials. This can be for individuals or teams.

World Flags Scavenger Hunt -
Tie in your "World Flag Display" to a scavenger hunt! World facts and visuals will really enhance this one.
